Make a footstool in a day
If you want something more intensive than the weekly courses, our 1 day (Saturday) weekend upholstery courses include just about everything that you need to create a beautiful footstool.
Created as an introduction to the skills of upholstery, your footstool project will start with a solid frame and legs. You will learn to use sewing and upholstery tools as well as the techniques and skills required to create a footstool. All you need to choose is the fabric for your top cover.
You will learn how to work with fabric to get the best from the pattern, how to apply foam, how to fold and cut corners, how to shallow button and how to finish a project. You will also have a choice of waxes to finish your legs to complement your chosen fabric. The weekend upholstery course is led by Jan Dyson.
This one day course runs from 10.00 - 4.00 and includes free parking, plus drinks and light refreshments. Lunch can be bought in the local shops. No experience is needed for this course and it is suitable for all ages. You will take your footstool home at the end of the day. Class sizes are limited to 10 and there will be two tutors on the day to provide an appropriate level of guidance and instruction. This is a fantastic introduction to the skills of upholstery and many students continue to a full 12 week course with more complex items of furniture renovation.
We can also tailor a weekend course around a small group and particular projects or skills. So if you and a few friends want to reupholster a piece of furniture, or learn a particular technique we will be able to build a course around your needs.
